So how is everyone feeling about the news the past week?
Anyone here directly impacted by the Lehman Brothers mess? I know we are all indirectly affected. I'm curious if the housing crunch or the economic news is having an impact (as in change) in how they (you) are living?

I know many of us have been impacted by the housing crisis (that precipitated the Lehman Brother's situation). Several of us haven't been able to sell our homes and when a contract comes in it is for much less than what was hoped.

From what I understand there is another round of foreclosures expected to hit the market in the next few months, which means property prices will continue to drop.

So what are doing differently now because of the financial health of our country? Are your buying decisions/process different than it was a year or two ago?

Barbara

I'm thinking after the election, depending on which "direction" it goes, we'll see an increase in home sales.  People feel too up in the air right now, waiting to see WHO is going to do WHAT.  It doesn't matter what the current administration does really - it could be undone or redone (and likely would be) in January..

I'm not too worried about the Lehman Brothers ordeal, the Dow went up the next day, although not enough to catch up to that big hit, but going up the next day is a good sign!  (right??)  Not my strong point, but I try to keep informed a little...too much information and I get diarrhea.

It's scary and I think a lot of us are just hanging on until we feel a little stability after the first of the year. HOPING for it at least.

We shall see.

OH -- we've been on the market 3 months and not ONE call. LOL   SO much for optimism (but I'm still glad, I hate moving)

I agree once the election is over...things will settle down.  Just hope things don't get worse before then.
